GM Western Region Launches Pro-Cut Initiative
Dealers encouraged to try a Pro-Cut PFM 9.0 Lathe
June 20, 2002
About one thousand dealers in GM's western region have received a letter from General Motors' regional service manager encouraging dealers to try the Pro-Cut PFM 9.0 on-car brake lathe.
The letter cites GM technical service bulletin 01-05-22-002A and states that "… vehicles with more than .002" rotor run-out may develop pulsation problems within 3,000 to 7,000 miles" and confirms that "… GM studies have found that use of an approved on-car brake lathe significantly reduces the repeat occurrences of brake pulsation." The Pro-Cut PFM 9.0 is one of two lathes approved by GM.
Dealers are offered special pricing on the lathe and a no-risk 14 day trial period. Pro-Cut personnel deliver and install the lathe.
"Dealers receive a number of mixed messages and have a myriad of equipment options available to them," said Bruce Prince, Pro-Cut's western sales manager, "this program provides clear communication on GM's position on Pro-Cut and offers dealers the chance to see, first-hand, how the equipment will be used in their shops."
"We know that the PFM lathe simplifies shop operations and improves profitability," added Prince. "I don't believe there's another supplier of any type of equipment that would step out on a limb to provide 14-day trials on this broad a scale."
Pro-Cut International markets the Pro-Cut series of on-car brake lathes including the VBG620 and the PFM9.0 SmartLathe, as well as the award winning Discus Rotor Measuring System. The company is located in West Lebanon, NH.
